Wealth Percentile Calculator India
Enter your individual net worth to estimate where you sit on India's wealth curve. Uses the latest 2024 World Inequality Database thresholds for Indian adults, with transparent interpolation between them.
What is your individual net worth?
Add cash, deposits, investments, EPF/PPF, gold, property and business value, then subtract every loan and debt. Use only your share of jointly owned assets.
Estimate based on the World Inequality Database's 2024 India wealth thresholds, series thwealj992. National, per adult and not age-adjusted. Not financial advice. Nothing is stored or uploaded.
Wealth percentile calculator India: how rich am I?
A wealth percentile calculator estimates where your net worth sits in India's wealth distribution. If your result is the 90th percentile, your net worth is higher than roughly 90 out of every 100 adults in the comparison. The same result can also be written as the top 10%.
This is not a salary comparison. It uses individual net wealth: the current value of what you own, minus what you owe. That distinction matters because a person with a high salary can still have low net worth after debt, while a retired person can have significant wealth with little current income.
What counts as net worth?
Use the same broad definition as the national wealth data. Add assets that belong to you, then subtract your outstanding liabilities.
Add your assets
Cash, bank deposits, mutual funds, stocks, bonds, EPF and PPF, gold, retirement accounts, property and your ownership share in a business.
Subtract your debt
Home, education, vehicle and personal loans, credit-card balances and any other amount you are required to repay.
How much wealth is top 1% in India?
The benchmarks below come from the World Inequality Database's latest distributional series for 96.63 crore Indian adults in 2024. They are entry thresholds per adult in current rupees—not the average wealth of each group and not an annual income figure.

|---|---|
| Middle 40% begins | ₹4,74,015 |
| Top 10% | ₹24,21,189 |
| Top 1% | ₹83,06,705 |
| Top 0.1% | ₹5,10,52,689 |

How the India wealth percentile estimate works
- You enter individual net worth rather than salary or financial investments alone.
- The calculator checks your amount against the published median, top 10%, top 1%, top 0.1% and higher thresholds.
- Between two published points, it estimates the percentile using logarithmic interpolation. This reflects the fact that gaps become dramatically larger near the top.
- It converts the percentile into the equivalent “top X%” label and an approximate count of Indian adults above and below that position.
The source thresholds are exact inputs; percentiles between them are estimates. Below the published median boundary, the tool deliberately uses only a broad estimate. It does not claim access to a complete record of every Indian adult's assets.
Wealth percentile versus income percentile
| Wealth | Income |
|---|---|
| Assets minus liabilities at a point in time. It reflects accumulated ownership and debt. | Salary, business earnings and other receipts over a month or year. It measures current flow. |
An income comparator cannot answer the same question as a wealth calculator. Two people earning the same amount may have completely different property, inheritance, investments and debt. That is why this page does not convert salary directly into a wealth percentile.
Why your percentile does not tell the whole story
Age, dependants, health, city, liquidity and financial goals all affect whether a given net worth feels comfortable. A younger adult has had less time to accumulate assets. A homeowner can rank higher while having little cash available. Someone in a lower-cost city may need less wealth for the same standard of living.
We do not apply a made-up age or city multiplier. There is no sufficiently comparable current Indian source behind that apparent precision. Use the national percentile as context, then judge financial health using your emergency buffer, debt cost, insurance, diversification and progress toward your own goals.
Frequently asked questions
How rich am I compared with other Indians?
Enter your individual net worth: everything you own minus everything you owe. The calculator compares it with the World Inequality Database’s national per-adult wealth thresholds for India in 2024. The result is an estimated percentile, not a judgment about your lifestyle or financial security.
What net worth puts someone in the top 1% in India?
The World Inequality Database’s latest 2024 series places the entry threshold for the wealthiest 1% of Indian adults at approximately ₹83,06,705. This means net wealth, not annual salary, and it is a national per-adult threshold rather than a household or city-specific figure.
What net worth is top 10% in India?
The latest 2024 entry threshold for the top 10% of Indian adults is approximately ₹24,21,189 in net wealth. The top 0.1% threshold is approximately ₹5,10,52,689. These are current-rupee estimates from WID series thwealj992 and should not be read as exact legal or tax cut-offs.
What should I include in my net worth?
Include cash, bank deposits, mutual funds, shares, bonds, EPF, PPF, retirement accounts, gold, your share of property, and business ownership. Then subtract outstanding home loans, education loans, personal loans, credit-card balances and other debt. Use a reasonable current value rather than the original purchase price.
Should I include my house in the calculation?
Yes. The source measures total personal wealth, so excluding property would make your input inconsistent with the benchmark. Include only your ownership share and subtract the outstanding home loan. Do not enter the full value of a jointly owned family property as your individual wealth.
Is income the same as wealth?
No. Income is money received over a period, such as salary or business earnings during a year. Wealth is the value of assets accumulated over time minus debt. Someone can have a high income and low wealth, or low current income and substantial wealth.
Is this an income comparator?
No. This calculator compares net wealth, not monthly salary or annual income. Mixing the two produces a misleading percentile because income is a flow while wealth is a stock. Use a salary or income percentile tool when the question is about earnings.
How is my wealth percentile calculated?
Published thresholds are used exactly. If your wealth falls between two published thresholds, the calculator interpolates between them on a logarithmic wealth scale. Below the published median boundary, it gives a broad linear estimate. The underlying distribution has a long upper tail, so every in-between percentile should be treated as approximate.
Why is the result not adjusted for age or city?
We could not find a comparable, current Indian dataset with reliable net-wealth thresholds for every age and city group. Rather than manufacture precise-looking multipliers, the calculator shows the national per-adult comparison supported by the source. Age and cost of living still matter when you interpret the result.
Is the result for a person or a household?
It is per adult. Enter your own share of household assets and liabilities. If you want to examine a couple, calculate each adult separately after dividing jointly owned assets and debts according to ownership.
Why might another wealth calculator show a different answer?
Calculators may use different years, sources, exchange rates, inflation adjustments, household definitions or definitions of wealth. Some compare financial investments only and exclude property or debt. Always compare the input definition and source year before comparing results.
Does BlinkMoney store my net worth?
No. The calculation runs in your browser. The amount you enter is not uploaded or stored. The share card also hides your amount by default unless you choose to include it.
