Jio Platforms IPO: GMP, Allotment, and What to Expect on Listing

Jio Platforms' ₹30,213-crore IPO closed on 23 October at 22.19 times subscription, with allotment due on 26 October and listing on NSE and BSE expected on 28 October.

Where things stand

Jio Platforms' ₹30,213-crore initial public offer (IPO) closed on 23 October at 22.19 times subscription. Allotment is due on 26 October, refunds and demat credit on 27 October, and listing on NSE and BSE on 28 October.

The grey market premium (GMP) was about ₹247 a share on 26 October, which implies roughly 22% above the ₹1,119 upper price band. GMP is an unofficial indicator, not an exchange price.

Checking allotment and what happens next

Allotment status can be checked on three sites: the registrar KFin Technologies, BSE and NSE. Each accepts a PAN or application number.

  • KFin Technologies: select Jio Platforms Limited, then enter the PAN, application number or demat account details.
  • BSE: select Equity as the issue type, choose Jio Platforms, then enter the PAN or application number.
  • NSE: select Jio Platforms under equity IPO bids and enter the PAN and application number. Financial Express reports that NSE may first require a sign-up using the PAN.

The prospectus timetable, as reported, sets these dates. They are "on or about" dates until the exchanges and registrar confirm them.

  • Allotment: Monday, 26 October.
  • Refunds and demat credit: Tuesday, 27 October. Money for shares not allotted is unblocked from the bank account. Allotted shares are credited to demat accounts.
  • Listing: Wednesday, 28 October, on NSE and BSE.

Subscription by category

  • Qualified institutional buyers (excluding anchors): 70.55x
  • Non-institutional investors: 14.00x (above ₹10 lakh: 15.89x; ₹2–10 lakh: 10.22x)
  • Retail individual investors: 2.72x
  • Employees: 2.93x
  • Existing Reliance Industries shareholders: 7.60x
  • Total public issue: 22.19x

Exchange data, as reported, show bids for 438.26 crore shares against 19.75 crore shares on offer, excluding anchor investors. Some tracker pages still show 21.36 times, with QIBs at 67.15 times. That figure does not match the closing book and is not used here.

Why retail applicants may not get shares. Under SEBI's ICDR Regulations 2018 (regulation 204(3)), each retail investor must be allotted at least the minimum bid lot, subject to availability. Any remaining shares are allotted proportionately. Jio's minimum lot is 12 shares, or ₹13,428 at the cap price. The retail portion is about 8.5 crore shares, or roughly 70.86 lakh lots.

If valid retail applications exceed the number of lots, SEBI's General Information Document describes allotting the minimum lot by draw of lots. The 2.72 times figure is shares bid divided by shares offered. It does not show how many applicants are competing for each lot. One press estimate, citing exchange data, puts retail applications at about 1.0 crore, which would exceed the lot count. The registrar's basis of allotment will give the actual number. Under this rule, bidding for more lots does not improve the chance of the first lot.

GMP: what the ₹247 figure is

InvestorGain showed a GMP of ₹247.50, or 22.12% above the upper band, last updated on 26 October 2026 at 22:02 IST. Added to the ₹1,119 issue price, that gives ₹1,366.50. Other trackers on 26 October quoted between about ₹232 and ₹250. ET Now showed ₹244 at 16:06 IST, and IPO Watch showed ₹250 at 17:24 IST.

GMP is the premium at which unlisted shares change hands in an informal market among private dealers. It is not regulated, it is not exchange data, and it is not a forecast. The implied listing price is arithmetic on that unofficial figure. GMP can change, or prove wrong, up to and after listing. InvestorGain's own disclaimer says it is indicative only and does not guarantee listing gains.

What to expect on listing day

Special pre-open session. Before normal trading, NSE and BSE run a call auction for newly listed IPO shares. On NSE's published timetable, order entry runs from 9:00 to 9:45 am, closing at a random time in the last ten minutes. Order matching and trade confirmation follow from 9:45 to 9:55 am, and a buffer runs to 10:00 am.

How the listing price is set. The auction sets an equilibrium price, the price at which the largest volume can trade. That price opens the stock, and it is the listing price. The auction has no price band. If no price is discovered, the stock moves to normal trading at the issue price as its base, under the framework SEBI describes in its May 2026 consultation paper.

Listing time. Normal trading in the shares is due to start at about 10 am. Exchange notices issued before 28 October should confirm the exact times.

Why the listing price can differ from GMP. The auction is set by buy and sell orders placed on the exchanges. GMP is not an input to it. The opening price can be above, below or close to the GMP-implied figure, and it is not a valuation.

Borrowing to apply: RBI rules

RBI's 2026 amendment directions for commercial banks, revised on 30 March 2026, took effect no later than 1 July 2026. They allow a bank to lend an individual up to ₹25 lakh, at the banking-system level, to subscribe to an IPO. The borrower must contribute at least 25% of the subscription value in cash, and a lien is created on the allotted shares in favour of the lender.

The text reviewed does not exclude a loan against mutual funds from IPO financing. Any such loan carries interest and must be repaid whether or not shares are allotted or list above the issue price. These directions apply to banks. Lending by non-banking finance companies is governed by separate rules, which this article has not reviewed.

What remains uncertain

  • The 22.19 times figure comes from exchange-linked reporting. The NSE and BSE bid-detail pages could not be read directly for this article.
  • Allotment, refund, demat and listing dates are the prospectus timetable's "on or about" dates, as reported. No exchange or registrar notice confirming them was found in the sources checked.
  • GMP differs by source and by time of day, and can move until listing.
  • The retail applicant count is a press estimate, not a registrar figure.
